Compassionate Virtue Bodhisattva - Excerpt 5

Generation of the Creative Power

As a pre-requisite, in order to access and use the creative power that is inherent in all of you, you must have first, mastered the preceding steps that I have given you to practice. Mastering these steps would have started the process of purifying your mind and body and will have come a long way toward single-pointedness of mind.

It would be a waste of energy to go in-depth of all the philosophies of study that have flooded this world. It is only necessary to get you to a certain point and the Universal Wisdom will take over for me. But yours is not to reason why I say to do certain functions, yours is to do exactly as I say. After you have reached the Peak of Universal Wisdom, you will remember all the misleading information that has held you back in your enlightenment process.

You see, it seems that, whenever someone has initiatory realizations, these realizations are usually so awesome, compared to their normal processes, that they now believe that they are it. They are now Buddha and know everything. So, instead of continuing the process, they start writing books. You are probably one of their victims of the misinformation. Most of these would-be Gurus have only pierced the veil of the Astral Plane/Body (which is the 10th level). Follow the steps I will lead you through, and you will pop the 82nd level and then you will find your way up from there. I have been to all these levels many times and have taken a vow to lead as many of you home as possible. When I have completed the parameters of my vow, I will take a consort and we will stay in the place that you will soon call home. This development process will have a side-effect for you. You will develop worldly and spiritual wealth far greater than what you are wishing for at this very moment.

So, let us continue to the next steps toward your wealth and enlightenment. Your physical body presently has complete control over all your other bodies or layers. We must take away it's present power. The next step, as first glance, will seem so simple, but will prove to be the hardest thing you have ever tried. However, mastering it, will cause you to see wonders that you did not know existed, since you have been stuck in this physical body.

Find a quiet place to be alone with your thoughts. Sit comfortably with your body stabilized and spine straight. By stabilized body, I mean, so there is no possibility of head tilt or snap. A recliner, set at about 45 degrees with a small pillow behind the neck is good. The best time to do this is after about four hours of sleep, but whenever you can spare two to three hours or more is excellent. For example: In my earlier Buddhist practices, I would finish my nightly Sadhana(1) and Meditations around 11pm and lay down for my Yoga of Sleep. At around 3am, I awoke, visited the bathroom, came back, and propped myself up in the above described manner. My body was still tired, but my mind was well rested. I brought my mind to single-pointedness and I stopped the movement of my body. In the earlier steps, I have had you practice contemplation on single thoughts, so any object you wish to think on right now is okay. This step is to bring your entire body into equilibrium. In scientific terms, we are going to attempt to bring every ion, neuron, cell, atom, etc of your physical body to 60-75 millivolts. We are going to put the body to rest, while maintaining awareness. Your physical body will feel like it disappears. It will be totally without feeling.

Guess what? Your body does not like relinquishing control. It is going to fight your every moment of your attempt. You will suddenly be short of breath. Your heart will palpitate. You will have an enormous number of places you feel you have to scratch. There will suddenly be irritating pains and twitches throughout. You will produce an unbelievable amount of saliva. Ignore all of this. Stop all movement, not with counterforce, but just stop. By not moving, swallowing less and less, and breathing more relaxed and shallow, your body eventually yields and will seem to go to sleep (or, if you had your eyes closed, is seems to disappear). As this happens, a small blue/violet light starts to appear and gradually gets larger. As the body seems to disappear, you seem to step through this light, and the world you are stepping into is incredible compared to the physical world you are use to. A lot of people who have seen this world call it the Astral Plane or World and they say that you are now in your Astral Body doing Astral Projection Travel. Whatever makes them happy and sells their books! It is erroneous or ignorant beliefs and teachings that are responsible for the world condition today. So, let me clarify. your have stepped out of your physical body, with your manifestation or creative body into the world of manifestation and creation. The world you now see is exactly like the world your thought you would see. At this moment, do not worry about your physical body. It is being protected by latent static energy and will call you back immediately if it is in danger.

As the blue/violet light is increasing in size, you may experience some phenomenal visions and feelings. For example: My first experience, I watched many lotuses of many colors bloom one at a time(2). I felt like I had two erections, one in the normal position and the other coming straight out of the top center of my head(3). Before stepping through the blue/violet light(4), I saw a Crystal fortress(5) in the desert with many Buddhas approaching(6). Like I said earlier, "We see what we expected to See." In other words, it is all created or manifested by you! So, you and I are going to work on what you see in the world you have created. How to change what you see. More importantly, how to bring what you have created, back to the physical world for the benefit of you and all sentient beings.

Some may scoff at this Universal Truth, but you are the proof of the truth. From your last continuum moment, with all your cultivated karmic seeds, you entered the combo Ovum Sperm as the static creative power. This power turned dynamic and you started reaching out throughout your mothers body to find all you needed to produce the baby that eventually produced you. After birth, your many layers of bodies have continued the creative process. You have just been unaware of it. Well, thing, for all of you, are about to change.

Start practicing this step. Write to the blog about your personal experience with this and feel free to ask in depth questions.

Compassionate Virtue Bodhisattva - Excerpt 4

The Ultimate Universal Law Karma (Action)

While you are practicing the steps I have previously given you in your preparation process in the accumulation of wealth and the distribution of the excess portion, there is a Law that you must not only be familiar with, but your degree of success is contingent on how thoroughly you are immersed into the depths of its ultimate meaning, and the use of the Law to achieve what you design and manifest your design.

Karma literally means action. The Law of Karma is usually explained as cause and effect. The expression, "what goes around comes around," is not Karma and is not an Ultimate Truth. For something to be an Ultimate Truth, it must always be True. Relative Truth, and it's portrayal as truth, is to be avoided, because it has its own Karmic results. Only Ultimate Truth is Truth. Karma is not the Law in Physics which says, "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." It is not "opposites attract." If we were trying to put a simple statement on this Law, "Like attracts Like", would be close. But, it is not necessary to put the Ultimate Universal Law into a simple statement. Simply Know it and Use it.

Karma is an action moment of mind. There is a Universal mind. You have a mind. Your higher self has a mind. Your neighbor has a mind. Your enemy, your friend, the earth, the Sun, have their own minds. There are countless minds in this Universe. At each moment, an action of each mind happens. Even what you would consider in-action results in net-action. Each action of each moment of each mind sends out an incredible diversification of waves throughout the Universe and at the intersection of each and every wave, there is a manifestation. If we cultivate the action, it increases the wave. You can never stop the wave. Putting an opposing force on the wave, still sends a smaller wave in the opposite direction. You cannot go back before you did the action, and not do the action, because we are in a moment to moment continuum. After a moment passes, we will never live it again (it gives us hope in the movies though). We must ride out the wave to wherever it takes us, and resist actions that increase the size of the wave. Eventually, the wave will totally dissipate. By putting opposing forces alternately, does reduce it's effects, as do constructed reefs, but will not eliminate the wave completely. In the end, after all efforts are made, we are either stuck with our actions, or glory in them.

As I said before, we are a Continuum of Moments of Mind. This continuum has separation markers that designate specific number of moments called Life Spans. When one Life Span ends, in the very next moment, you enter your next Life Span of Moments. The very moment before your Dad's sperm and your Mom's ovum connected, you completed your previous Life Span of Moments. Since it is a continuum of moments, you can be assured that it was similar to your surroundings of this new Life Span. This knowledge is valuable for your preparation for the way you want your next Life Span to be like.

So, if we wish our moments of action to produce favorable results, we must do our best to commit actions that give us the best odds for favorable results. We must only associate with other minds that are of a like propensity. We must live in a city of a country that is conducive to attaining our net result. At all times, we must be cognitive and mindful in each moment to assure our present action moments aide us, rather than, oppose us.

This life is a Continuum Field of Moments. Whatever actions or Karmic seeds you plant in your field will grow to life fruit. If you cultivate properly, you will have an abundance of the fruit you desired. If it was tasty fruit you were after, you would have purified your field first. If you wanted poisonous fruit, you could leave your field impure.

You would not still be reading my words at this moment if you wished to create impure action moments, so all my examples will be toward uplifting your thought actions to the acceptable level of Universal Criteria. Example: Husband and Wife, each are loving to one another, their children, and friends. They support each other in all areas of interest. The collective goal is for the betterment of their family, community, country, and world. This makes for a very powerful force in the Universe. In another house, the husband and wife are opposing forces. One would be though as Pure and the other Impure. The impure would be reflected and amplified off the pure. This will drain the power of the pure and destroy both. Another household, the husband and wife are both impure. They each are the same with no reflection to exponentially increase their power. Let us assume these three homes are in the same neighborhood. This would give the impure a place to Reflect-The Pures. Soon, the three homes would all be impure. By this example, and you have seen this within your own experience, is why I say, "select wisely, wife, friends, work, community, and country." Like actions of purity, reflect purity, and purity amplifies.

So, we are going to plant the Karmic Seeds of Wealth in our purified Continuum Field of Moments and we are going to cultivate them and harvest marvelous tasting fruit. We are going to eat and enjoy our marvelous fruit. Our wonderful family, community, country, and world will also partake of and enjoy the abundance of our harvest. For this is the Law and Order of the Universe.

Open Letter from Russell Simmons, Deepak Chopra, and Dr. Benjamin Chavis to the United States of America Presidential Candidates

The following is an open letter from Russell Simmons, Deepak Chopra, and Dr. Benjamin Chavis to the United States of America Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Dennis Kucinich, John McCain, Barack Obama, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson:

Dear Presidential Candidate:

Millions of people across America and throughout the world are eager to hear and learn how you propose to provide effective leadership as the next President of the United States on the issues of overcoming poverty, addressing global warming and protecting the environment, promoting sustainable economic development, and striving to establish world peace. We have six specific questions for you to answer.

We know that you are aware we are living in a remarkable moment in human history when the vast masses of people on every continent are crying out for a higher standard and better quality of life.

The rising consciousness of a growing critical mass of people at the grassroots level is being manifested in the unifying spirit of millions who are praying, demanding, seeking, struggling and working for a real, positive and redemptive change in their own lives and communities. There are millions who are making it abundantly clear that when given the opportunity to participate in the voting process, they will express their political and spiritual will as independent, young, new and conscious voters.

(1.) How do you view the importance of being open to welcome and to encourage a more inclusive political dialogue with those who may be at the margins of the political establishment or with those who may be at the distant edges of the perceived rigidity of the mainstream political parties?

We are in solidarity with all people without distinction as to gender, race, ethnicity, class, religion, lifestyle or orientation. We believe in the oneness of God and the oneness of humanity. Diversity is a blessing from the Creator.

(2.) How do you view the importance of diversity in our representative, constitutional democracy?

The United Nations has reported that if our government and other governments do not change their respective policies on how to protect, nurture and respect the sacred balance and equilibrium of the environment, the catastrophic consequences of global warming will become a certain destructive inevitability for future generations.

(3.) How will you use the office of President of the United States to work with the United Nations and other bodies to respond to the issue of global warming and to protect, nurture and respect the environment?

The latest statistical 2007 report from the U.S. Census Bureau on Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States documents the persistence of poverty, income disparities and inadequate health insurance coverage for millions of people. They are suffering from the consequences of the lack of effective governmental leadership on the issue of poverty.

(4.) Specifically, what is your plan of action to eliminate poverty in America?

The 2008 U.S. Presidential Election is one of the most important elections in our lifetime. Calls for a real change in leadership, direction, public policy and governmental action are growing daily. The election results from the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire Primary reveal the core of concern not only for the need for change domestically, but there is also a growing transformation in the conscience of Americans concerning the issues of war and peace. The war in Iraq should be brought to an end as soon as possible.

(5.) What do you intend to do to end the war in Iraq?

Most recently, some have unadvisedly attempted to interject the race card into the Presidential campaign. There are many in the political sphere from time to time that make a reference to the dream and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. One of the important characteristics today about the growing awareness and participation of the "hip-hop generation" of young voters is their transcendent state of mind on the issue of race. In fact, Dr. King believed in "the beloved community" where all human beings are treated equally with mutual respect, justice and love.

(6.) As President of the United States, how will you exemplify leadership domestically and internationally toward the fulfillment of "the beloved community"?

We would like to receive your timely responses to our open letter and the six questions highlighted. Your answers will be shared unedited with millions of people via the media: print, television, radio and the Internet throughout the world. We will also directly transmit your answers to our mail and e-mail lists, websites, constituencies and demographic of people and communities that desire to make informed decisions and to make a positive difference in the outcome of the election of the next President of the United States.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Russell Simmons

Obama and the Call: “I Am America”

Rarely has a public figure done as much good for himself with one speech as Barack Obama did with his victory speech after winning in Iowa. Commentators did the fastest flip in broadcasting history. You could visibly see their minds whirling as they went from Position A: Obama appeals to intellectuals and naive idealists, to Position B: Obama is unstoppable.

The reason that the speech worked such magic is that Sen. Obama suddenly sounded “presidential.” But how can a major transformation happen overnight? The reason is that it didn’t happen overnight and yet it did. Both are true. Students of history were reminded of a famous incident from the career of Benjamin Disraeli (himself a very unlikely Prime Minister, being both Jewish and a romance novelist by trade). Giving advice to an Oxford student who wanted to enter British politics, Disraeli wrote, “Young man, there are only two things you must know to pursue a career in public life. You must know yourself and you must know the times.”

Everyone now agrees that Obama knows the times — his call to turn the corner echoes JFK’s four decades ago — but it’s the first quality that few have pointed out. Sen. Obama has written eloquently about his search for identity, and those who have met him personally come away believing that he knows himself deeply, sincerely, and truly. With such grounding in self-awareness, Obama gave himself something that can’t be gained from the outside: the ability to evolve personally and the flexibility to adapt quickly as the times demand.

Mellencamp Held Hands With the Dalai Lama

Rocker JOHN MELLENCAMP broke protocol by touching Buddhist leader the DALAI LAMA when he visited the U.S. last year (07). Tibet's spiritual leader visited Mellencamp's native Indiana in October (07) - and the rocker couldn't resist reaching out to the 72-year-old religious guru.

He says, "My two heroes right now are Bob Dylan and the Dalai Lama. He held my hand for five minutes, man. It was weird. You're not supposed to touch him.
I thought, 'Well, I kind of feel like his girlfriend.'"

I am mentally an Indian, says Dalai Lama

Spiritual leader of Tibetans, the Dalai Lama, said on Thursday that having spent many years as a refugee in this country, he has become mentally an Indian.

"I am a homeless person for 50 years," the Dalai Lama said at function organised here to felicitate former Defence Minister George Fernandes, adding, he has been a guest of the Indian government all these years.

The 72-year-old said he had become a refugee at the age of 24. "My best part in life is spent in this country. Major part of my life is spent in this country," he said.

The Dalai Lama said having spent many years in India, his "inner values" and "spirituality" come from this country. "Indian spirituality filled my mind. I am mentally an Indian".

According to him, India could solve many of its problems if Indians had the same zeal and spirit that they showed during the freedom struggle.

Bob Proctor's Insight of the Day

If you have ever wanted to start your own Mastermind Group then read below:
Masterminding Guidelines

1. The average group works best with two to eight members, no more than 12 - time is the constraint.

2. Meet regularly, weekly if possible. Meet in a nice, preferably inspirational place if possible. Make sure it's a well-lit restaurant, office, home, library, or church, etc.

3. If you are in different cities, the meeting can be conducted on a conference call. Make certain you engage a really good conference call company (setting up a series of 3-way calls does not work well.) You might save a few pennies but miss a million dollar opportunity through distractions.

4. Start the meetings by reading the MasterMind principles. This is possibly one of the most important points of a call. Every member of the group should read aloud all 7 principles and the dedication and covenant.

5. Each member should be supported visually, verbally and emotionally by the others. For example: someone wants a new home. Other members might say, "I see you driving up to your glorious new home. I see you sunning yourself poolside with your loved ones, friends and me." The principle is that we can believe for others what they cannot fully believe for themselves. These are not idle words. You must create and project to the MasterMind a clear vision that the words represent.

6. Your MasterMind call should run like a "Swiss watch." Ensure the call is timely. If you have committed to a 60 minute call, keep it within that time frame. MasterMind members are generally extremely busy, time is important - use it wisely. Each group should elect a MasterMind leader to keep everything flowing freely. The leadership position can rotate from one member to another. The group leader should be prepared to time each person's participation in the call to ensure it is kept on track. Have a watch (with a second hand) or stop watch available. This point is extremely important (do not treat it lightly).

7. Roll Call - The group leader would take a roll call and at that time, would assign each person a number (i.e. if there are 6 people on the call, each person would have a number from 1-6). This numbering system can be used to designate who speaks when and should be rotated with each call to ensure #1 doesn't always speak first.

8. Good News - Starting with whichever number is designated for that particular call; each person would be allowed 1 minute to speak about something very positive. They will share their "win for the week." This will help in creating the right vibration to get the call started in a positive direction.

9. Wants and Needs - Again, starting with whichever number has been designated to begin first, each person would have 4 minutes (the group would decide on the length of time) in which to state their wants and needs and receive their responses. It might sound like, "This is John. This is what I want and this is what I need." Or, "This is John. This is a challenge I'm facing and I would appreciate the help of my MasterMind group." It's important that everyone understands that the designated amount of time allotted is both to state their want/need and to receive the group's response. Therefore, if someone is not prepared for the call and it takes them 3 ½ minutes to state what they need, it allows the group only a ½ minute to respond. Each MasterMind member needs to be prepared for the call - to ensure maximum benefit. At the end of the 4 minutes, it would be the team leader's responsibility to say "Time is up," and the discussion would come to a halt. The second person would be asked to begin.

10. Depending on the "chosen" length of your call, you may decide to leave room for a "free for all" at the end, at which time anyone and everyone would have a chance to speak.

11. A special MasterMind meeting may be called at any time to MasterMind an exciting new project.

Next Monday look for the MasterMind Principles

Bob Proctor's Insight of the Day

Here is your Friday story,

Saying Your Thank-Yous

A year ago, at a get-together of a dozen girlfriends from college, I saw my old friend, Therese Gibson. When I told her I was writing a book called Happy for No Reason, which focuses on the 21 core habits of unconditionally happy people, she told me about the daily gratitude ritual she practices with her 95-year-old father, Charlie, that keeps them smiling and feeling good.

Therese moved in with Charlie, who's still sharp as a tack, during a bad time in both their lives. Charlie's wife had just died, Therese was at the tail end of a painful divorce, and money was tight. They were as glum as any two people could be. But both had heard that gratitude was a great way to feel better, so they decided to sit together for a few minutes each morning before Therese headed off to work and tell each other three things they were grateful for in their lives.

"It was slow going in the beginning," Therese told me. "The first time we did it, I had a hard time thinking of even one thing I was grateful for." Finally, she looked around the room and saw a vase she liked. She told Charlie, "I'm grateful for how pretty that vase is." It sounded silly, but it was the best she could do. Charlie wasn't any better at it, often waiting for Therese to give him a clue about what to say. But she and Charlie both noticed that even a thank-you for something superficial had a good effect.

Soon, their decision to focus on what was right in their lives began to pay off. Both Therese and Charlie started to feel happier, and to notice that more and more things were going their way. Even their money situation improved. Three thank-yous became five, then ten, and soon they had to stop listing the good things in their lives long before they ran out of things to say-or Therese would be late for work.

One day, they were feeling so light and happy after finishing their lists that Charlie, who'd always liked the musical Oklahoma, started singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning." Therese joined in. It was the perfect expression of how being grateful made them feel. They added this song to their ritual and now "saying their thank-yous" and singing together has become one of the highlights of their day.

I've experienced myself just how powerful gratitude is. Once, after going through a heartbreak, a friend told me to write down five things I was grateful for each night before I went to bed for three weeks straight. I knew that psychologists say it takes 21 days to change a habit, so I agreed. At first I struggled to come up with anything, but I continued doing it every night and over time the pain in my heart eased.

Try doing the gratitude exercise yourself. Every night before you go to sleep, list five things that you're grateful for that day, and notice how you feel when you wake up the next morning. A grateful heart can send your happiness level soaring.

The “Soul Hypothesis”

The current divisive atmosphere makes it appear that each of us must choose sides. In particular, a rash of books equating atheism and science poses the choice between rational materialism and organized religion — God or Einstein, in effect, despite the fact that Einstein himself made room for God in his worldview. But why can’t spirituality be aligned with reason? One doesn’t have to blindly accept religious dogma to believe in the soul. Like any theory that needs proving, the soul is a hypothesis that can be tested. Such testing doesn’t take place in a lab. Each person is a living example of the soul hypothesis, and throughout life we can use our own experience to prove whether the soul is valid and real.

On the face of it, atheism is a weak position in terms of science. It, too, is a hypothesis, but it lacks any system of proof, in large part because trying to prove that something doesn’t exist is nearly impossible — no matter how many logical reasons that are mounted against God, no actual experiment is ever advanced, no test group, no controls. Atheism leans heavily on rhetoric and dogmatic assertion, neither of which is science. But the ethos of science lends a cloak of credibility to spiritual debunking in general and prevents people from conducting their own experiments.

What would it be like to experimentally prove that the soul exists? Since by definition each of us is said to possess a soul, the question has personal relevance to everyone.

Bob Proctor's Insight of the Day

Psychic Income vs Material Income

People ask me, "Does The Law of Attraction work?" Of course it works. But that's asking the wrong question. The right question is: "What's my unique purpose, and how can I use the Law of Attraction to give value to the world? When you've defined your true-life direction and followed it, you're living the true secret.

One of the most brilliant minds that ever lived, Albert Einstein, said, "Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I'd like you to count income in a different way from here on out. There are two types: psychic and material income.

How many times have you been involved in a church activity, volunteering, or if you have children - Little League or the PTA? Maybe you've donated your time to worthy causes, and you've received absolutely no monetary or material income. Let me ask you, why did you invest any of your precious time without financial reward? You know the answer; you did this because you received something in return that told you that you were part of something meaningful. You were contributing, giving at a higher level. That's psychic income, and it's the most important income you'll ever receive.

Every single one of us has a deep need to contribute, to give something back, to be part of something meaningful, and that's how you and I are going to define our psychic income. Your psychic income is the most important income you will ever, ever receive.

Money is nothing more than a neutral tool. It's like a knife; you can use it to cut bread or turn it into a weapon. The tool is neither good nor bad. It just is. And it's only defined by the intention of the user. For this reason, let's talk about how we can actually create a monetary income that allows our psychic income to flourish. I'm going to suggest that you create enough money in your life so that you don't have to worry about it. When money becomes a non-issue, you're able to put your primary focus on the other key areas of life - your relationships, your intellect, your health, and your spiritual life. Sound good?

The War To End All Wars (For Real This Time)

In the aftermath of World War I, the horror of that conflict gave rise to a slogan that quickly turned into a bitter irony. “The war to end all wars” was only a prelude to more of the same, if not worse, with the arrival of World War II. Now there’s reason to resurrect the phrase, not as applied to the so-called war on terror but to global warming. If the war against climate change is to be won, it will require an era of unprecedented cooperation and the dropping of national boundaries. Some might say it would require a change in human nature itself. Conventional war isn’t compatible with any of these things and must come to an end.

In the general celebration of Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize, few commentators noticed that his acceptance speech was pessimistic. He pointed out that no significant change in pollution has occurred yet, with more than seventy million tons of toxic emissions being released into the atmosphere every day. Gore compared the current inertia to the period between the two world wars when too many world leaders ignored the threat of Nazism and assiduously pursued policies of timidity that would prove to be defeatist and self-destructive in the end.

So far, the parallel to World War II is holding true in frightening ways. The threat against us is obvious, it isn’t going away, and yet lack of leadership and wishful thinking prevail. Only on the brink of disaster did the Allies unite to fight back against Fascism. Global warming hasn’t reached that stage. The recent Bali conference on climate change ended with little more than an agreement to set a future agenda. The United States jockeyed to protect the interest of our corporate polluters, following the Bush agenda that favors total non-regulation of businesses and turning a blind eye to the destructive practice that corporations want to pursue. It’s easy enough to condemn their head-in-the-sand attitude, but the situation is now so alarming that the Democrats aren’t in a position to create the necessary change, either. The Democratic candidates for President say all the right things about climate change in front of the cameras, yet in essence they are fiddling with their makeup while Rome burns.

Bob Proctor's Insight of the Day

Here is your Friday story,

Good Memories: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

In a world preoccupied with the quest for material possessions, it's easy to overlook the fact that the most valuable things we own are our best memories. Good memories are the gift that keeps on giving. They make us smile, feel proud, and re-experience the pleasure of past times.

Looked at through the soft lens of sentiment, even the memory of cranky relatives and family traditions that bored or annoyed us at the time can be heartwarming links with our past.

But whether your memories of the holiday season conjure up good feelings and happy sounds, smells, and tastes or negative feelings filled with disappointments, resentments, and grudges, I hope you'll resolve this year to consciously create lasting good memories for yourself and those you care about.

Although few of us remember what we gave or got last year or the year before, the tendency is to put too much emphasis on the process of giving and getting gifts.

Don't worry so much about what to buy your family and friends; think more about what you want to give them.

Think beyond the synthetic atmosphere of the mall. Prefabricated decorations and gift certificates are not the stuff of lasting recollections. Think about the feelings you want to create.

The best memories are made out of simple stuff -- homemade food, handmade gifts, heartfelt letters, good conversations, games, and heirlooms.

Highlight and celebrate old traditions and consciously create new ones. You'll be glad you did -- for a long time.

The Brain Without Wires (Part 2)

In popular understanding blind people are said to develop more acute senses in other areas, but recent research indicates that the brain may actually be able to substitute one sense for another. In the previous post the Brain Port device invented by Dr. Paul Bach-y-Rita enables blind subjects to “see” by receiving pictures on their tongues. This substitution of touch for sight activates the visual cortex in their brains, so it’s not a trick of mind over matter. Mind is altering matter.

I was suddenly reminded of an article from the acclaimed neurologist and writer Oliver Sacks, which told of how sighted people manage to adapt to the sudden onset of blindness. The adaptations cover the whole gamut, since some people simply resign themselves to being sightless. But Sacks cites two who didn’t. One man took up roofing. He specialized in extremely complex roofs with multiple gables and steep pitches, which he would climb on to at night, much to the consternation of neighbors. The other person I recall developed a skill for designing intricate gear boxes whose multiple layers of machinery he saw only in his mind’s eye.

This gives us a clue that sensory substitution has always been a latent power of the brain. But that supposition needs to be pushed away from gray matter into the realm of consciousness. Brains don’t adapt to disability automatically. They respond to a person’s will and desire. That is, they obey our intention. The mind must first want the brain to change. This is fairly obvious through a simple example. If you take an unwilling subject and place him on a tight rope, he’ll fall off. But if the person wants to learn to walk a tight rope, he will gradually develop that skill. The unwilling subject will fall off no matter how many times he’s put on the tight rope; the willing person will get better over time. The connection between intent and brain adaptation seems pretty undeniable.

Deepak Chopra: The Brain Without Wires

The notion that the human brain is “hard-wired” was a favorite theme even up to recently, because it helped explain how certain behaviors were determined by genes. We were told that depression, addiction, even obesity were not the result of choice or environment. Rather, these and a host of other behaviors were rooted in the brain and ultimately in a person’s DNA.

Popular articles continue to appear on how women’s brains are wired differently from men’s, or the teenage brain from either children’s or adult’s. This theory was always a half-truth, and now evidence is arising to show that the brain may be much more flexible than was supposed, which is good news for anyone who believes in freedom of choice as well as consciousness itself.

One need only turn to the work of the late Dr. Paul Bach-y-Rita from Mexico, who attracted general scorn thirty years ago when he suggested that the brain was capable of “sensory substitution.” That is, a blind person could learn to “see,” for example, by substituting the sense of touch for the sense of sight. Braille already gave a clue that something akin to this audacious idea was possible, but Dr. Bach-y-Rita went much further. By the time of his death at 72 last year, he had developed a mechanism known as a “Brain Port,” a small paddle that fits on the tongue. Using a grid of 600 electrical points attached to a camera, the Brain Port can deliver a picture to the tongue of whatever the camera sees. This picture consists of electrical impulses that activate touch, yet after some practice, the blind person’s brain actually sees the image.

Bob Proctor's Insight of the Day

It has often been said the line which separates winning from losing is as fine as a razor's edge - and it is (I am talking about winning in a big way and in all areas of your life).

One person "just about" starts a project, the other person starts it. One individual "almost" completes a task, the other does complete it. One person sees an opportunity, the other acts on it. One student "nearly" passes the exam, the other does pass it - and although the difference in their marks may be only one percentage point out of a hundred, it's that one point that makes all the difference.

In 1947, ARMED - the first race horse in the history of United States' racing to win over one million dollars in prize money over the duration of his career - had earnings of $761,500. But the horse which finished second in earnings that same year- a horse which often lost races a mile long by only "a nose" - won only $75,000. Now, if one were to look at their winnings alone, it would appear that ARMED was thirteen times better than his closest competitor. However, when you compare "the times" that were actually registered by those two horses in their races, you discover he really wasn't even four percent superior!

Think of how your results would change if you improved your performance by just one or two percent.
